The holiday season can be pretty challenging for many people, especially for those who struggle with depression, anxiety, substance abuse and eating disorders among many other mental health issues. This time of the year can be especially difficult if you’re going through a divorce, illness or loss. It’s hard to be reminded that things are not the same, seeing people happy and super excited about the holidays when you’re struggling and wanting them to be over soon can be devastating.

Whenever things become challenging remind yourself of who you want to BE this holiday season. Set an intention for yourself and the person you want to be. Maybe you want to be loving, kind, generous, confident, patient, giving and calm. Identify what fits for you and find a picture of yourself or someone else who represents that person. Find a quote or write a positive affirmation that helps you to reconnect to your intention when you feel overwhelmed by the stress of holiday shopping and social activities,...
