Therapy for Depression and Anxiety

START TO FEEL BETTER TODAY

Everyone feels sad and anxious now and then. It’s normal! For people who struggle with depression and anxiety can be very difficult "just to shake" the feeling of dread of the future, anticipation, negative expectations, and the sense of "paralysis" which makes it very difficult to make decisions and fully experience life. Everything seems effortful and difficult.

Both depression and anxiety can debilitating and interfere with personal care, performance at school and work, relationships, and self-esteem. Some common symptoms of anxiety are:

  • Panic, fear, constant nervousness, and uneasiness

  • Sleep and eating problems

  • Not being able to stay calm and still

  • Cold, sweaty, numb or tingling hands or feet

  • Shortness of breath

  • Heart palpitations

  • Dry mouth

  • Nausea

  • Headaches or migraines

  • Tense muscles and pain

  • Dizziness

Symptoms of Depression include:

  • Persistent sadness, anxiety, or a sense of feeling “empty”

  • Feelings of hopelessness, negative expectations, or pessimism

  • Irritability

  • Feelings of guilt, worthlessness, or helplessness

  • Loss of interest or pleasure in hobbies and activities that you used to enjoy

  • Decreased energy or chronic fatigue

  • Moving or talking slowly as if everything is effortful

  • Feeling restless and having trouble sitting still

  • Difficulty concentrating, remembering, or making decision

  • Difficulty sleeping, early-morning awakening, or oversleeping

  • Disturbances in appetite and/or sudden weight changes

  • Thoughts of death or suicide, or in some cases suicide attempts

  • Aches or pains such as headaches, cramps, or digestive problems without a clear medical cause and/or that do not ease even with treatment

Although not everyone who is depressed and anxious experiences every symptom, everyone can benefit from therapy to understand their experience and learn ways to deal with their emotions and symptoms effectively.
